I recently got hired as an LWD field specialist trainee and have been on a land rig for the past few weeks. The money is great with tons of advancement opportunities and the only requirement is that you have a bachelors degree and are willing to work hard and be away from home a lot. I personally love this job and am excited to go into work every day.

LWD is stretched very thin right now and the major oil services companies are heavily recruiting in this area. If you are looking for an entry level job, don't feel like you have to resort to mudlogging. Apply for an LWD or MWD (Measurement While Drilling) trainee position on RigZone.com or any major oil services company website. These positions are considered one or two levels above mudlogging.

I applied online with no connections and was contacted within days for an interview. I was hired in a matter of weeks.
